Common Questions and Misconceptions

Joining the PTO is expensive.

Joining the PTO is a huge time commitment.

If I join the PTO I will feel guilted into volunteering.

I won’t benefit from joining the PTO.

The PTO is a great opportunity to meet people and to support my child’s teacher.

Not true!  Dues ARE required EVERY year but they are only $8.

Not true!  We do not require our members to volunteer or even attend any meetings.  That said we would love it if you did but we won’t hold it against you!  We appreciate your support even if it is only monetary!

Not true!  See above!  We will not require you to volunteer or hold it against you if you don’t. You can get involved as much or as little as you choose.

Not true!  Your child will benefit from your membership.  Your financial aspect of your membership/donations go toward funding programs and gifts to Jones to enrich your child’s educational experience.  In the past we have funded author visits, purchased musical instruments, and replaced PE equipment just to name a few examples.  

Yes!!  Come to meetings and meet other like minded parents who want to help improve Jones.  Help support your child’s teacher behind the scenes!
